French cast metal figural clown and dog, 8 days, time only mantel clock, c1900
CONDITION:
the detailed figures retain an old dry dark patina, with no losses or damage, and the top movement drum brass shows some tarnish. The ornate reverse-paint glass dial, with floral and bird designs, is very nice (there never was a front bezel and glass), as is the cast gridiron pendulum. The unsigned square brass single-train movement has a Brocot escapement, and it ticks and appears complete. Ht 16 1/2"
